8 Ways to Share Your Headshots on Social Media

Headshots are a big deal for actors—but most people only post them once with a quick “New headshots are in!” and move on.

Not you.

👉 You’re going to strategically share them— in multiple ways, with captions that connect, not just promote.

Here are 8 ways to get more mileage from your headshots on social media (outside of your profile photo).

1. Use a Carousel Post to Share New Headshots

Celebrate your new headshots by sharing 3-5 options you're choosing between—and get your audience involved by asking which one is their favorite.

Caption Starter: 🗣 “New headshots are in! I’m leaning toward #4—but what’s your favorite?”

Love this example from Kosha Engler here:

2. Share a ‘Headshots Through the Years’ Post

This is a great way to celebrate how far you’ve come—personally and professionally.

Caption Starter: 🗣 “How it started ➡️ How it went ➡️ How it’s going. Each one tells part of the story.”

It’s also a great idea for Old Headshot Day (celebrated every year on April 26th) like this example from Sarah Demeestere

3. Celebrate a Milestone Moment

Don’t just post your newest photo—mark the moment. Are these your first pro shots? A new look? A sign of your growth? Say so. Want to dive into posting about your ‘Milestone Moments’ ? This article will help!

4. Turn It Into a Meme (Yep, Really!)

Use my favorite app Canva to overlay a funny, relatable line about the actorlife. The possibilities are endless with this idea (and you can use old headshots and new):

5. Reintroduce Yourself With Your Latest Shot

Perfect for pinning to the top of your Instagram feed.

Caption Starter: 🗣 “Here’s a little about me—actor, storyteller, and secretly great at remembering weird movie trivia. What’s a fun fact about you?”

6. Bring Us Behind-the-Scenes

In a photo or video share the messy hair, the mid-laugh moment, or the makeup touch-up. Love this BTS moment captured by Melss Photographics

Caption Starter: 🗣 “A little BTS from my shoot with [tag photographer]! What you don’t see? Me hyping myself up with showtunes between takes. 😅”

7. Manifest Your Dream Role

Pair a headshot with a dream project and invite your audience in.

Caption Starter: 🗣 “Tell me this isn’t giving ‘guest star on Only Murders in the Building.’ Manifesting it into existence.”

8. The Moment vs. The Photo

Create a quick Instagram Reel showing the behind-the-scenes moment followed by the final polished shot.

Caption Starter: 🗣 “Drop a ♥️ if you did not see that coming. I sure didn’t. Big thanks to [tag photographer]—these turned out even better than I hoped!”

Don’t just post your headshot. Get creative or tell the story behind it! Use these 8 post ideas to connect, reflect, and celebrate where you are right now in your acting journey.
